Mel Brooks on how he got the cast for 'Silent Movie', UK; 1976

Mel Brooks in London for the London Film Festival, he is interviewed about his latest film, 'Silent Movie', Brooks responds to a question asking him how he persuaded actors like Liza Minnelli, James Caan, and Burt Reynolds to send themselves up in a film like this, and Brooks jokingly replies, "You threaten them, you say you'll send people to their houses late at night and hurt them, and then they say 'oh alright, I'll do the picture', no, actually, Burt Reynolds is a very good friend of mine, and er, a very good friend, or we couldn't have been in the shower together for two days like that, y'know, and we were at a party together, there was alot of drinking and er, alot of eating and drinking and champagne, it was just Burt and me, nobody else, and er, so I said to him...you can laugh....so I said er, I told him about the idea, and er, he said, 'Gee that's crazy, a silent movie' then I told him the idea we were going to have some stars about, y'know, and he said 'can I be in it?' and I said 'well, er I'll get back to you, y'know!", London, UK; 1976 (LNF1181N - AEVZ001J)
